One of our longest routes - Mitzpe Ramon sits on the edge of the Ramon Crater deep in the Negev, a full desert crossing from the airport.
About 200 km, typically 2 hours 20 minutes via Route 40, running the length of the Negev highway past Beer Sheva and Dimona before reaching the crater rim.
Most visitors here are heading for the crater itself - hiking, stargazing (Mitzpe Ramon is one of Israel's few certified dark-sky areas), or one of the desert lodges nearby - a genuinely different kind of trip from anywhere else on our route list.
Given the length of this drive, we treat it as a planned, booked-ahead trip rather than a same-day request, and build in a rest stop along the way.
